Hand Feeding Hummingbird

If you have hummers visiting your feeders then you have a good chance at hand feeding them. Hummingbirds adapt quickly to hand feeding. It may take a little patience, but they will come. Notice how this videographer starts with feeders, flowers and then sugar water.

Feeding Hummingbirds in Kansas

I place a feeder outside by the bay window. I can see it while watching television or just reading.

I set a camera in the window to catch this female Ruby-throated Hummingbird as she visited the feeder.

This feeder not only attracts the local hummingbirds, it also attracts; Orioles, woodpeckers, finches and more.

Near this feeder, I also have a fruit feeder. I place oranges cut in half, and grape jelly in the feeder. Cardinals are also attracted to the jelly along with all the others you normally see.
