Fearless Hummingbirds

Yes, the little tigers are at times, fearless of human or bird. I have them come up within three or four feet of me.

It seems that they are trying to talk to me, with there "nock...nock" sounds, while hovering in place, looking at me.

I certainly enjoy the six or eight Hummingbirds that we have in our yard. It tickles me to see them by two's all of a sudden shoot straight up in the air forty or fifty feet, and then dive straight down and arching back up just before hitting earth.

I've been able to get a few good pictures of these amazing and beautiful creatures.

Each day I go out and sit about five or six feet from the feeders that we have out for them, and it seems that they too enjoy my presence.

They seem to have very little fear of me being there, talking with them and watching them.

One morning, just lately, there happened to be a heavy dew on the ground from the night before.
A friend got the pleasure of seeing them bath themselves.

They would come in like they were going to crash to earth, but instead, they would just skim the top of the grass where the dew was.

After a couple of passes, they'd fly up in the tree and finish cleaning.

What a beautiful capture !

It is fun to watch them at play. They are so amazing. I guess that's how they're nicknamed "Little Powerhouses"!

I experience the same. They don't seem to be afraid of humans, and or other birds. However, The "Road Runner", one of their many predators, and very fast at targeting birds, the little hummers seem to know exactly how to stay out of their way when they are visiting too.

I have had it where one of the Road Runners came to visit (they are mostly ground birds) while one of the hummers was here.

The little hummer flew up and perched himself on the frame of our patio, and just sat, watching the Roadrunner sitting with us.

I think the Runner knows there are easier prey to catch than the little hummer-jets!
