Wren nesting in backdoor

I have a missing pane on my back door thanks to the neighbor kid breaking my storm window and I never got around to replacing it. Last year a bird built a partial nest in it, then decided not to stay there. A neighbor told me it was good luck and not to remove the nest, so I left it there all winter and thought ok if nothing else uses this spot I will clean it out this summer and fix the window pane.
Low and behold I heard a lot of chirping and singing at my back door so I started watching and sure enough a wren was between the window panes, between the storm window and the interior window. The nest developed a little roof making a little cave. Now I have a momma wren and 3 wide mouthed baby wren living inside my back door. I love to hear the chatter and they move about.
I will miss them when there gone, but I know I will leave that pane out of that window and see if she or one of the babies come back to visit me next year.
