Wren Nest in Bike Bag - ON BIKE

In the Bike Bag
We had recently been hearing a lot of wrens this spring trilling about in the woods on the back side of our property and had noticed their volume and pitch had become more subdued and even silent as of late.
I rode my bike into work for several days about two weeks ago and had it parked under the carport these past 10 days. I was out talking on my cell phone with my sister when I noticed a tiny tail disappearing into a three inch opening on the side of the bag.
I told my sister "There's a mouse going into my bike bag! Hold on while I check inside - " and I opened it up and out flew a tiny bird! I was very surprised and upon looking further found a nest with five tiny eggs inside.
There is some moss and twigs and a soft warm lining made up of our dog Lyla's downy undercoat that she sheds everywhere. Smart little bird - she has a Gortex house complete with a roof and a warm downy lining in her nest. Fine taste in building materials!
Unaware of "the new home construction" on the bike, my husband had moved it several times in order to move some posts around on the carport and we were a little concerned, but she is staying with the program and continuing to set.
Hopefully the little family will thrive and fledge on schedule! We will update as they hatch.
