Bluebird Family my Update

My name is Lisa, from Phoenixville,Pa. I had written a story, "I have fallen in love with Bluebirds" in 2013.

I am very happy to update my experience with the same pair that I was able to enjoy in the 2013 season.

The family stayed with us over the winter, and in the spring of 2014 the Mom and Dad started the making of another brood. They made a home in the same box.

They successfully raised 2 broods. The first brood of 4 hatched on Mothers Day and the second brood of 4 on the 4th of July.

They would come and go through the fall, then around October 1 they started coming on a regular basis again.

I do feed them live mealworms so I am sure that helps keep them around.

We have very harsh winters here in Pennsylvania and they come every morning for a feeding.

I also feed them dried mealworms, and sunflower kernels and I cut up raisins which they seem to enjoy.

I can only hope that I have another successful season.

Two years ago I didn't see a Bluebird around, what joy they have brought to us!
