Uninvited Guests

by William
(Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada)

This and the spouse had decided to build a nest on top of our lamp by our front door.

I didn't bother them and thought I would share my space. Now the babies are hatched and this fellow is becoming overly protective.

A few times when I am approaching the nest it got pretty angry and flew straight at me on an attack!

Our front door lamp has been bird's favourite spot to build nest. In previous years we have had robins nesting there and we never had any problems.

What kind of bird is this?

The following is a sequence of she trying to attack me. Sorry for the blur I was holding the camera with one hand and the other hand ready to shut the door.

I sure do not want it to get into the house! Luckily I do not use my front door much because I get into the house through the garage.

But now I have to tell visitor to use the side door instead :(

Here it is pacing in front of my door getting closer and closer. Really loud making sure I know she is not happy.

Then she got on the tree still yelling at me

This is an American Robin. Once their young have hatched they can and will be very protective. The young will leave the nest in about two weeks from hatching. Good Luck

My Mother Robin is very pleasant
by: Judy

I would love to view your pictures but the links you posted don't work.

Sorry to hear you have a Robin parent in attack mode. I have a Mother Robin who is very pleasant and she is used to me peering into her nest.
