Unbreakable Bond

by Barbara Smalarz
(Thompson, ct, usa)

The love of a mourning dove.

I was startled by a loud thump this afternoon to find that a dove rammed into my front door.

Sadly, she was injured. She managed to hobble over to some trees and to my astonishment a fellow (possible mate?) dove flew by her side.

That dove has been by her side for six hours. Everywhere she moves, he follows. It is heart wrenching.

Truly a love story. I hope they make it through the night.

IS SHE OKAY?
by: Toni

I hope she has recovered; please tell?

Somewhere packed away in my "Save" files is 40-year-old newspaper clipping my mom sent me from my home town. The photo was of a dead mourning dove on a busy city sidewalk, its mate hunkered by its side. The photographer noted that it was still there the next day.

Loving doves
by: Loli

Doves have always been associated with a kind of mystical love or luck. Your story makes it even more than a mystical tale.
