The Twins

by AnnDe C.
(W.V)

The twin morning doves were born in a nest over my Grandma's little barn. They made their nest on top of a big grape vine wreath.

This is the second time that this couple has used this nest this year. The first time they had three nestlings.

They are now chubby and trying to learn to fly.

One is very shy and slow to try and make flight. The other, watches the Mom and follows. The Dad is never far behind.

They like to drink out of the little pouring fountain in the back yard. The twins stay very close together, touching side by side.

Grandma has an Irish Setter, named Ruby. She naturally tracks and will kill birds. She has killed 6 since Spring!

We will not let her, Ruby, in the backyard while the twins are still trying to learn to fly.

Grandma and I enjoy watching the 4 of them.
