That Isn't a Nest!
My younger brother is a motorcycle rider. he keeps his helmets in our metal shed, next to my father's workshop.
One day he went out to get his favorite helmet. Inside, were 5 wren eggs. He figured they weren't going to hatch, but he left them alone anyway.
In Texas, it is quite warm. We suppose the three eggs that hatched, hatched because of good tempereture.
Three tiny nestlings were in the helmet the following week, and the mother bird only came once a week.
Then, it stopped coming completly. We looked at the birds one day and their mouths were open and they were shaking and chirping softly.
We didn't want to kill them, so we got help from a local vet and other references. We got an eye dropper and mixed cereal and raw egg together.
We gave them the food as often as possible, and eventually we switched them to solid food. (Diet of insects, ect) One day, all three were gone.
They had flown away, and we have noticed three wrens that fly by the shed each day. If you believed it was our three, you'd think they were seeing if their was any food left. I do.
