Snake ate Mama and all the siblings!

by Ms Leta

I bring all me feeders in after dark because of the raccoons. I glanced over toward the nest in one of my planters and there was a snake! I clobbered it till it left. Too late for everyone but one little Carolina Wren I think.

I don't know who to call in the middle of the night. I have mixed food and it opens it's mouth wide everytime I click the bowl with the tweezers. I have it in a small box with a tiny towel and tons of kleenex. I have been putting warm water in a ziplock under the box every now and then to keep it's body temp up.

This little thing is so ugly it is cute. Heart is just beating like crazy. I do know the write ups say it is better to be eaten by a predator than to be handled by a human. My mother instinct kicked in before I thought and now I am not about to throw it outside for the snake.

Does anyone have any wonderful suggestions for till I can call the vet in the morning? Thanks, Ms Leta
