Please Help my baby birds

Hatched on May 8th

I have found, what I think is, a tufted titmouse nest. I have regularly taken pictures of the nest since noticing it with three eggs. There were a total of four eggs which have hatched and are 4days old.

I am scared that my husband has disturbed the mother bird and she hasnt returned in 5hours. During the rebuilding of my childs swingset my husband went into our shed where the nest is located.

I watched the momma bird frantically fly around finally returning to the woodline. I figured she would return after sunset with no luck. Time is ticking for these four motherless chickadees and I do not want them to perish. Please respond

Sincerely,

Shelley

Sorry

The same thing happen to us, my mother went to move the nest box since it had fallen partly out of the tree, and when she opened it there were four titmouse babies and a few eggs.

We replaced the nest but I'm worried because our scent may be on the babies. The parents have returned to the nest and one was in the nest box last I watched from our house.

The babies appeared to have hatched within the last day or so. I am just hoping that the parents don't kill or abandon them.

Administrator Says:

Human scent will not cause abandonment. Most backyard birds have a poor sense of smell. They survive by having excellent sight and hearing. The scent thing is a myth.

Help me with the baby birds

Shelly! (I agree with Julie)
You can nothing.. except for to leave them alone. Stay clear of the area for a while.. make it sacred for their sakes. The parents are around and watching, I am almost sure of it. When they feel the coast is clear once again.. they will move right back in and resume their care of their brood.
At this stage, there is almost nothing you can do. I know the worry you are going through.. but you have to let nature take its course. If it wasn't your husband.. it could have been a predator or something, that could cause the same sort of thing to happen. Best if you stay clear of the area. You might not have seen them come back within the five hours you mention.. but they might have.. to feed them..and then off again to gather more food for them.

Keep us posted

Please help
by: Julie

I hope by the time you are reading this....the mom is back. I have no idea what to do except I would stay away...far away from the area and watch. Maybe you can call your local vet and ask their advice. I know the helpless feeling that you must feel. Good luck and I hope she is back.
