Today, while in the garage, she flew inside and hovered inches from my face for several seconds, left for a moment came back and came within an inch of landing on my arm.

Our Feeder is located on the other side of the house. Sunday, while sitting on the porch, I decided to put the feeder on the table right next to me, she came to it without hesitation.

Sneaking A Cigarette
by: Brandi Moore

I was hiding from the family on a real tough afternoon and sneaking a cigarette. I was just sitting on my back porch thinking about the bad stuff. When a hummingbird hovered for about five seconds no more than six inches from my face. I smiled all day after that. Did not really need that cigarette after all.

humming birds
by: Anonymous

I found a humming bird feeder in my garage and mixed sugar and water and put the feeder on the hook in front of the window. Now I can watch humming birds and hey, I'm only 11.

Hank the Hummer
by: Teri Cayton

I love to hear from people that have had close encounters with hummingbirds.

My mother loved them and fed them all the time. I tried feeders at my house with no success. My mother passed away in November 2000.

That spring I was so depressed and missed her greatly.

I was on my front porch one morning and heard a noise. I looked up and a hummingbird was just inches from my head. It just hung there staring at me as if to say, "Perk up, you are alive and well."

I rushed to the store and bought a feeder. I have had hummingbirds every year since.

Maybe that little bird was an angel sent from my Mom to let me know it was OK to go on with life. I don't see a hummer to this day that I don't think of my Mom.
