My First Bluebird Pair

by Joanne Honsberger

Last fall I purchased a Blue Bird House and put it on a post in my back yard. There is a tree and a feeding station. I watched in the fall and there were two pairs of Blue Birds looking at the new house. Came spring 2009 and watch from my kitchen window and saw a pair of bluebirds looking at the house.

Every morning when I have my coffee and lookout of the kitchen window I noticed a pair of blue birds - never saw them making the nest as far as bringing in nesting material. So I did peek in and there was a nest already built. Sad I didn't put down the dates to I could know when to expect the little ones.

I didn't have a camera which was the saddest thing about this story. One morning I saw the female sitting on top of the box and soon the daddy came back and to my complete surprise He had a huge long worm and he feed it to the female.

Now in this troubled world I experience something I thought was the most beautiful site. I know that the males do this when they have the babies hatched.

What a loving site of two beautiful Blue Birds.
