My Baby Bird

by Jesse

We are having all our guttering replaced due to bird nest problems.

We waited until summer before we started taking away the guttering so all the baby birds would have gone.

Well, one day the builder came to me with part of a birds nest, inside the nest was a baby bird just a few days old.

The builder had pulled the nest out of the guttering where he had found it.

I am an animal lover so I couldn't say no to looking after it and it was way to young to be sent to wirers.

I put the nest on a hot water bottle (I made sure that it didn't get too hot for the bird.) and went outside to find some worms.

Never in my life have I thought that I would be mushing up worms for a bird. It was pretty gross but i did it.

I put the mushed worm down the throat of the bird. It ate it with glee since it hadn't eaten for a day or so.

I am really worried for the bird because it hasn't opened its eyes yet and when it does it will see me and think that I will be its family.

It will be really hard for the bird and me because the bird won't be like a normail bird and I will have to keep looking after a bird that should be free but won't survive in the wild.

So far I am just praying for everything to turn out alright but I really don't know what I'll do.

I found a baby sparrow
by: Anonymous

Hi,
I had the same problem a baby sparrow with no feathers and closed eyes fell out of its nest. I put it back but a day passed with no mom returning. I brought it in and started hand feeding every 20 minutes during the day. The bird bonded to me and know follows me through the house, eats out of my hand and takes a bath while I do the dishes. I have had the baby 4 years and he became to tame to set free. I found another one today but it was a fledging, I didn't know what to do so I fed it a few times and let it fly away. It flew well to a nearby tree. Does anyone know if it has a good chance of surviving? I realize it should be free and I did not intend on keeping the first one.
