Mourning Doves On Deck

by Penny
(Oklahoma)

We had two babies nestled in the bend of the tree in our back yard. Finally, they were old enough to fly.

However, they do find their own food and fly around all day, as they are around 1 month old. They love our deck.

They stay together on the deck in the shaded area and sleep. I leave seed out for them trying to encourage them to go to other parts of the yard.

They often do that, but they always come back to "their spot" on the deck. I fear a cat or something will get them.

They will come to me within 2-3 inches when I'm out there on the deck. I've never had birds do this before, so I guess I will take it one day at a time. We have named them.
