In the Newspaper Box

by Jeannine
(Raleigh, NC)

We have bluebirds nesting in the newspaper box beneath the mailbox. I hung a sign on it to request that they be allowed to nest in peace.

The mailman throws the paper on the driveway. I haven't looked at the nest since I pulled it out and discovered the first egg.

The mother sits deep in the box and either flies out when I approach or sometimes doesn't.

Administrator:
Maybe you'll be able to get a picture of the nest once the eggs hatch, hope so!

That's one we hadn't heard yet.

Paperbox nest
by: Steph

I just found a nest with momma bird in my paperbox beneath my mailbox. Later, when momma bird wasn't in the nest I checked it - 5 small light blue eggs. looked it up online - looks like a bluebird. I have put a sign on the box and called my newspaper carrier to ask that the paper be left on my driveway.
