Garage Nesting Robin

by Nancy K.
(Wauwatosa, WI)

We have a robin who has been building a nest in our garage for three weeks.

First he choose the top of the door opener and then moved to a 2 x 4. A lot of material has been brought in but no sign of forming a nest.

We have decided he must be a first time nest builder or in need of tutoring. We have decided to keep the garage door closed in order to discourage him.

Anyone else had such a persistent robin?

Bird in garage

We have had a robin trying to make a nest in our garage on top of the garage door opener. We cannot leave the garage door open unless someone is outside to make sure the robin does not fly into the garage bringing all that nesting stuff.
Would like to know how to discourage this robin or maybe it is a pair of robins. We have even hung two owls outside the garage door to try and scare the robins off but no luck. We figure the owls will only scare off the barn swallows which have not come around yet. Does anyone have any ideas how to scare off the robins. thanks
