Front Door Closed

by Jim and Denise
(Wilton,CT)

Every year we place a hanging planter by the front door. It usually attracts Finch's. This year we received a new guest, a Robin.

The Robin and her mate 'own' the front door now and we have decided to stop using the front door until they are done with their mating season.

Well, the first 3 babies hatched and successfully left the nest. We were surprised that the female continued to defend her nest.

I googled the internet, found this site and now realize that we have 'a while' before we can use our front door again!

All is well as we enjoy watching the mother and mate feed their newly hatched babies. I guess the show continues on!

We hope to set up a camera next year to get a birds eye view of the nest. That's one protective momma! Can you imagine her with a frying pan!!!!!!
