Found Cedar Waxwing Almost Gone

by BirdLovers
(Nova Scotia Canada)

Some little girls found the poor thing on its back after hurricane bill. It was near dead, small cut and barely moving.

We nursed it back to health keeping it warm, fed with whole wheat bread in milk, mushed up worms, bugs, bits of grapes, berries, bananas etc. every time it cried for food until it was full.

It is doing just great! Up and chirping for food, hopping (and pooping) all over us, and it is just starting to try out its wings! And it just loves my husband and me, totally comfortable with us, although nervous with other people.

We take it outside and put it on bushes, grass, show it the berries on the honeysuckle tree, etc.

It is starting to track flies with its eyes, which is a great sign too. I think its going to be just fine, although will be a heartbreak to see it finally go.

We have lots of fruit trees etc in the area so will hopefully see him/her when she is adult with the other beautiful waxwings.

People/humans do so much damage to nature, destroying wildlife and their habitats, its the very LEAST we can do to help by feeding birds, helping them when they need it etc. Good for everyone who helps!!!
