Condominiums

by Glenda Kohl/Girten
(Robinson, Illinois, USA)

About 10 years ago I started learning woodworking. I found a pattern for bird house condominiums.

I built one that is 5 foot tall and has 10 apartments in it, and have it displayed on my front porch.

I have other small bird houses in the yard and always liked to see the blue birds around. Mostly song birds is what I was trying to attract.

I noticed a pair of little birds building a nest in it. I had heard of Jenny Wrens for years, but have never had any in my yard. They have two little baby's hatched and are feeding them now.

I was interested in learning what kind of feed they ate, so I did the research to find out if I could help with the feeding of the little ones.

They sit on one of my lawn chairs by my window near my kitchen table and sing to me every morning while I am having breakfast. I look for them every morning to be sure they are O.K.

Just like the article says, If you get to close you will probably be scolded, when I go to the mail box, three feet from them they really chatter to me.

And when My little ShitZu goes out to puddle they talk to her too.

Sorry no pictures.

Condominiums

I'd like to have or know where to obtain the condominiums bird house plans!!

I've tried 2 years unsuccessfully using wren bird houses out in the yard, and to date, no wrens.

Your story is so neat and its evident the birds are comfortable near you. I hope to share that experience some day.
