Baby House Finch

I found a baby bird on the sidewalk next to my house and at first I left it there for a few hours, I later went back and found it was still there.

So I picked it up and took it home.

I put it in a shoebox with a "nest" made out of tissue wrapping paper and paper towels, then I went on the internet and read about baby birds.

Once I learned a few things, I went and got some dog food, watered it down and fed it to the bird with tweezers every 20 minutes.

Two weeks went by like that. The tiny bird slowly grew. opened it's eyes, and got it's feathers.

The next week, I fed it every 30-40 minutes but a little more at a time. By a month and a half, the bird was fully grown and I released it in my back yard.

I believe the bird still comes around every so often but I'm not sure if it is the same one or not.

I'm just glad I was able to help it, since the rate of baby birds living while fostered by humans is so small.
