Baby Bird Success

by Kelly
(Conroe, TX. USA)

I found my dog barking at a baby bird fledgling in the back yard. I know it couldnt fly and my yellow lab, meaning well, wanted a playmate but this wouldnt work well for the baby bird.

So I put it in a box not wanting the dog, another animal, or the ants to get it. I didnt know what to do with it so I went to the internet and this was the first site that came up.

I searched and couldnt find the nest but I did see two little birds that appeared to be searching in a particular tree so I cut a hole in an empty milk jug and lined it with soft dead grass and tacked it to the tree about six feet above the ground.

I was wondering if they would find it and before I could even get into the house I looked back and they were already entering my milk jug nest and caring for the youngster.

Thanks for the information.
