A Mourning Dove

A Mourning dove
sent from above
hear them cooing
in the morning light
for ones that suffered
or did not make it
through the night
to soothe the loved ones
that were left behind
dressed in grey
to greet the day
a soothing sound
to give you peace
and help you get
a good nights sleep.

I like to send this poem in my sympathy cards. Thank you for your comments it means a lot to an amateur poet like myself. I like to listen to them cooing when I sit outside, it's very relaxing.

Soothing Sound

Yes, it is true the dove has such a soothing sound. I had not thought of it as soothing those left behind. Outstanding poem!
